Quality Manager- Steel Manufacturing
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality control and quality assurance efforts within their manufacturing operation.
This position will oversee quality systems, customer requirements, process controls, inspection and testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with production, engineering, and leadership while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all customer quality requirements are documented and communicated throughout the organization.
Develop and maintain quality objectives aligned with company policies and goals.
Establish standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
Define quality requirements, measurements, and audit methods at appropriate stages of the manufacturing process.
Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to analyze data, evaluate processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Review quality control and quality assurance data to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
Develop and implement solutions to quality and process issues.
Keep the management team informed of significant quality issues, trends, and improvement initiatives.
Prepare and present technical and quality-related information to leadership.
Direct inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, processes, and finished products.
Maintain working knowledge of applicable government, industry, and quality standards.
Respond promptly and professionally to customer quality concerns.
Maintain and support ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
Evaluate product recalls, warranty claims, and other quality-related issues.
Monitor production for adherence to established procedures and quality standards.
Support product and process development initiatives.
Manage the NDT program in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A.
Provide guidance to quality personnel and other employees regarding procedures, performance, and the importance of meeting customer expectations.
Make decisions regarding incoming and in-process nonconforming materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, 3–5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 quality environment.
Strong understanding of formal problem-solving and statistical analysis methods.
Experience with:
PPAP
Process Flow Charts
FMEA
Capability Studies
Root Cause Analysis
Corrective and Preventive Action (CA/PA)
Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Gage R&R
Familiarity with recognized industry standards such as ASTM and ASME.
DOE experience preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to read engineering drawings/prints.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Experience using measurement and inspection equipment.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong technical written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to make sound decisions regarding nonconforming materials and quality issues.
Ability to provide guidance and support to quality personnel and other employees.
Strong understanding of manufacturing quality processes and systems.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on manufacturing environment. The position requires the ability to:
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
Reach and lift objects above shoulder level.
Occasionally climb ladders.
Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Bend, reach, stoop, kneel, or squat as needed.
Work primarily indoors in an environment that may be extremely loud at times.
Work in environments that may be extremely hot or cold for extended periods.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Spend extended periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Move and respond quickly to production, quality, and emergency situations.
