About the Opportunity

Our client is an established electronics manufacturing and technology company supporting the design, manufacturing, remanufacturing, and lifecycle management of advanced technology products.

They are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing and remanufacturing processes, improve production efficiency, and support complex mechanical box-build operations. This role will work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and customers to develop scalable processes and improve product lifecycle and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Remanufacturing

• Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing, remanufacturing, and component repurposing processes.

• Establish process flows, sequence of operations, and shop-floor routing aligned with product specifications and quality requirements.

• Develop processes for harvesting, testing, screening, and repurposing high-value components.

• Write and maintain Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs), SOPs, and visual work instructions.

• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities involving production processes, equipment layout, safety, and operator training.

• Design, test, or source specialized tooling, fixtures, and equipment for assembly, disassembly, rework, and remanufacturing.

Mechanical Box Build & New Product Introduction

• Lead engineering execution for complex mechanical box builds, particularly enterprise server systems with multi-level BOM structures.

• Collaborate with design teams and customers on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), repairability, remanufacturing, and component repurposing.

• Support product launches, engineering changes, revision releases, pilot builds, and operator training.

• Establish production goals and monitor initial production builds.

Costing, Change Management & Tooling

• Develop labor estimates and Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) estimates for manufacturing and remanufacturing projects.

• Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs).

• Update process documentation, tooling, and manufacturing instructions following engineering changes.

• Design, order, and validate assembly/disassembly tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

Cross-Functional & Customer Support

• Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, communicating process updates, technical issues, yields, and engineering solutions.

• Partner with Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Production teams.

• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical guidance to supervisors, leads, and operators.

• Support operator training and process implementation on the production floor.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action investigations.

• Investigate non-conforming products, yield issues, component defects, and RMAs.

• Analyze production and quality data to improve yields, reduce defects, and minimize field failures.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and remanufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electronics Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

• 6+ years of related process, quality, or manufacturing engineering experience, preferably within electronics manufacturing, remanufacturing, or component recovery/repurposing.

• Hands-on experience with mechanical box build, system integration, component disassembly/repurposing, and cable/chassis routing.

• Experience working with enterprise server architectures and complex, multi-level BOMs is highly preferred.

• Proven ability to develop clear Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs), routing instructions, SOPs, and work instructions.

• Experience with CAD, 2D/3D modeling, drafting, or related engineering software.

• Familiarity with MES systems, shop-floor controls, barcode/traceability systems, and tooling/maintenance management systems.

• Experience with electronics manufacturing equipment and processes such as SPI, reflow profiling, conformal coating, X-ray inspection, torque-control systems, or related production technologies is preferred.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborating across multiple functional teams.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing engineer who can move between engineering, the production floor, and customer-facing conversations. This person should be comfortable developing processes, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, creating clear documentation, supporting new product introductions, and working directly with production teams to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
