Plating Manager
The Plater is responsible for performing all aspects of the plating process including preparation, masking, fixturing, plating operations, and teardown. This role supports Dixon Hard Chrome’s core processes including Hard Chrome, Thin Dense Chrome, Cadmium Plating, Copper Plating, and Electroless Nickel for aerospace and industrial components.
Job Responsibilities
• Prepare parts for plating including cleaning, masking, and setup
• Design and build anodes, racks, fixtures, and tooling as required
• Perform ID (inner diameter) and OD (outer diameter) plating operations
• Set up and operate plating tanks and equipment
• Monitor plating parameters including time, temperature, and current density
• Apply masking techniques to protect critical surfaces
• Perform assembly and fixturing prior to plating
• Conduct teardown and post-process handling of parts
• Ensure proper documentation and traveler completion
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Work closely with Quality and Production teams to meet customer requirements
Qualifications
• Experience in electroplating or related manufacturing processes preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Hands-on experience with masking, fixturing, and tooling
• Understanding of plating chemistry and process controls (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
• Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Work in a chemical processing environment with appropriate PPE
• Manual dexterity for detailed masking and fixturing work
